We’re spending the day at Tumbili Lodge for something a little different—time to slow down, move your body, eat good food, and learn something valuable with a group of like-minded people.
This one-day event includes a gentle two hour Yin Yoga session, a relaxed lunch, and a hands-on Permaculture and Food Forest Workshop. If you’re curious about growing your own food, interested in living a bit more intentionally, or just looking for a way to spend your Saturday doing something that actually feels good, this day is for you.

✺ Meet Your Facilitator – Laura Maier
Laura has spent the last decade working in regenerative agriculture, teaching permaculture and helping communities build simple, sustainable systems that actually work. She previously led the Practical Permaculture Institute Zanzibar and holds a background in Global Change Management.
She’s also trained in Kemetic, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga, and brings a calm, body-aware approach to the way she shares movement. Laura’s sessions help people slow down, get present, and pay attention to what their bodies are telling them—without overcomplicating anything.
What the Day Looks Like
🔸 Morning Yin Yoga | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Ease into your day with a gentle Yin Yoga session that includes:
A brief introduction to Yin Yoga
Aromatherapy and calming music
Breathwork and meditation
Long-held stretches to support nervous system regulation
No experience needed—just wear something comfortable and give yourself permission to slow down.
🔸 Lunch Break | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Enjoy a nourishing meal from the Tumbili kitchen, with your choice of vegetarian, fish, or chicken dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. Perfect opportunity to connect with others, or take a quiet moment for yourself.
🔸 Permaculture & Food Forest Workshop | 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
In this hands-on workshop, Laura will guide you through the basics of permaculture and food forest design. You'll explore:
A grounding welcome using “Cards for Life”
The roots and ethics of permaculture
What makes a food forest thrive
Group activity: design your own polyculture system
Light practical work in the garden (like mulching or chop-and-drop)
Time for questions and reflection
You could be completely new to this or already growing things at home, this session offers practical insights and a new way of thinking about food and systems that’s both simple and smart
